Have You Read Any Good Books Lately???
The students at Crosswind Elementary certainly have. Thanks to monetary grants from Target, International Paper, the Collierville Education Foundation and a generous discount at Borders Book Store, the 2007-2008 PTA at Crosswind Elementary was able to purchase 850 new books for the students to read.
These books are part of Crosswind's "Eagle Reader Book Club", the PTA Reading Program coordinated by Board Member Kim Perry. Book titles are purchased in classroom sets so that the entire class can read the same book at the same time. Teachers tailor lesson plans to include the books. The books can then be traded with other classrooms within the school and used year after year.
This is the schools second year for the program. Last year the school was able to purchase just short of 1000 books for the school.
